Penumbra (Hexen megawad) - Beta

Hello guys,

I made this vanilla megawad with one new hub for Hexen with 8 new maps.

And it was released

Good work. I like the colorful & detailed visuals and the levels are cool. The main issue i had is it's way too easy. There is reasonable challenge for the fighter early on, but once you get the 4th weapon its over. You have the most powerful weapon and a seemingly endless supply of discs of repulsion, urns, & kraters of might. And in the realm of chaos, you can avoid almost all enemies & traps by just flying over them.

So what difficulty did you play?

You think I should make it more difficult? Yeah I could make it more challenging into the next version if more people will complain about being too easy :) Anyway the Chaos Realm will always be easy I am afraid as you can fly, right :)

Skill 4 (ultraviolence equivalent) as fighter. Maybe in the chaos realm there could be arrows or fireballs coming from the ceiling to keep you from hugging it.

Oh yes, when the circuit is completed, the machine poops many crystals... you need only one tho :)

Ah nice, another Hexen with old-school feel, thanks for that. I agree with fluffyshambler it's easy most of the time, but with some nasty difficulty peaks (yorick's skull trap for example). That's not the main drawback of the mod, however. Firstly, the part after gem puzzle (2 heresiarch + 2 korax fight) is highly repetitive,it's basically the same corridor with different textures and monsters. Secondly, almost all maps are strictly linear, which is not what was original Hexen about. Still, it was good to play a Hexen mod that's not crammed chock-full with custom monsters and stuff.

Hello. We got stuck in multiplayer in checkerboard world, on 2nd portal from room with stone, where you have to put gems there is room with 5 pillars (sadly no screenshot), i suppose they should lower but they didn't. Is this mod not so friendly with multiplayer? Tried to puke scrips with no success.

Otherwise looks and plays good, platforming without savestates is alittle harsh tho.
