I probably shouldn't be doing this since I likely won't be able to finish it, but ever since I finished a little something for another project it kinda left an empty vacuum inside of me. Like, I need to have something to do in my spare time.

So screw it, sign me up. I'll be using the github repo as a mapping resource if that's alright with you. I'll probably use a new song but that's about it.

EDIT: Whoops. Sorry for bumping it to page 5. :P

EDIT2: I'm backing out.

That's fine, and don't worry about the page flip. It's nice to see a little popularity with this. :)

By the way - for those of you who have been putting this off - there's only a week left to at least have a submission ready!

I anticipate it will be another week for beta testing and fix-ups, and then it will be a full release at the start of 2018.

I made something. I stuck with vanilla textures as I felt too lazy to mess around with stuff. Suggestions are more than welcome and remeber to have fun :D

Map: Trial of the Maulotaur
Size: Small
Difficulty: Very hard (I can always make it harder or easier if necessary :P)
Game: HERETIC
Game Type: Singleplayer

Things still need to be done: Par time and music (suggestions are welcome)

I have a few questions:
Is pistol start enforced?
Do we need to make the maps coop compatible?
Would it be easier if I joined discord?

I heartily recommend adjusting light levels so the level isn't uniformly brightly lit.

Ok, I need to stop poking at this.

Here's my map, "The Best Weapon", a joking map that uses the weapon of its title. Requires Jumping and Freelook. Placed in MAP01. Hopefully I got rid of all the bugs in this version, and didn't subtly add any more that I missed. Let me know if there's any issues!

Thanks for the feedback Gez :). I have made the lava a bit brighter and the centre a slightly darker. Hopefully, that will be enough to make it look convincing.

The deadline has passed, and the current map roster, sans its order, is what this project will be going forward with.

Feel free to join the Discord Server! You can find out the current status of the project there, it would be an honor to have another Heretic around for Round II! I'm looking to pump out some more Heretic maps myself and understand how it works design wise compared to Doom. When you've been making techbases and facilities since the start, it kind of becomes a hard habit to shake :)
