Phantombeta's first map - Knee-Deep in the Overdone Remakes

Post by phantombeta »

I decided to try making a map.
Since it's my first map, I decided to go with something simple and make an E1M1 remake, just for the sake of it.
Has difficulty settings/levels, sorta.
Probably complete crap.
(Oh, and it's for Doom 2, not 1/Ultimate.)

Music is E1M4 music from Ultimate Doom.
Sky is also from Ultimate Doom.
Map by me. (durr)

For a first map, it seems to have done well. Regardless of whether it's good or not (it was fairly pleasant) it serves as a teaching metric for how to do things like lifts and mirrors and underlava things.

A few notes:
-The windows by the green armor are pass-through, when idiots like me play the map they can get stuck outside.
-The platforms across the lava are a bit to far apart, I'd add more and make them in a not straight line, probably just my tastes though.
-There's a deep hole in the lava, either put more of them in to make it seem normal or put something in it, it looks secrety as it is.
-Wait that's it.
-I like the mirror.
-Yay ZDoom affects.
-Congratulations you didn't fail.

That might have helped, if you did it from memory it probably would have had more of your flair in it but eh.

Made a revised version, link in the OP.

Changelog:
  • Fixed the windows in the green armour room (oops)
  • Added more holes in the lava
  • Lowered the lava's damage to 10
  • Changed the platforms in the lava a bit
  • Retextured the exit area
