I'm going to find a new low for the term 'barely acceptable map'.

This would be the opportunity for modders to try out making a weapon that has never been done before, either been a futuristic one or something closer to very old school like maybe something from WW1 or WW2.

Heck,if it even come to mapping, everyone could go with the theme of time travel wich would give a reason for having weapons of different eras.

Anyways, just giving some suggestion here, you guys do wathever you want,go crazy.

I want to try for making a weapon, I've never done anything like that but this is the time to try, anyways.

I tried making a map once but it went exactly as that one video Terminus made.

Surprised it was never doomp
In any case, the first two sets were great, so here's looking forward to seeing what everyone can make. I'm still learning the ropes of a lot of stuff at the basic level so I can't really contribute anything of note.

I assure you that somebody else will make something worse than you, so get amongst it!
KarolineDianne wrote:I was actually just now talking to someone about maybe thinking of possibly trying my hand at doom modding someday. Maybe. Then they told me DUMP 3 starts today and now's my chance. So the pressure's on me to get off my lazy ass and actually DO something for once. Trouble is I have no goddamn clue how to start or even what tools I need.

So I suppose I'm in, but I need to ask... How does the noobest of noobs get started?
As far as maps go, Linguica wrote a fantastic tutorial that I recommend for everyone.

I definitely don't have time for this but I'll definitely do it anyway.

How exactly will the weapons work? Are you going to turn the stock weapons into RandomSpawners, or expect mappers to explicitly place new weapons, or what?

I'm pretty sure weapons will be a separate gameplay mod that Term'll handle the logistics of. So build your maps for vanilla gameplay, as always.

There are a couple clever ways you could have a vanilla-compatible map that still spawns specific custom weapons when used with the right weapons mod.
