Sorry for the bump, but this wad is still something that impresses me. The levels in this were done really great. When I played this, it was like being a child stepping onto phobos for the first time again. I'd love to see Thy Flesh Consumed done in this theme, along with Doom II.

Grab it here!

To mark the announcement of the inevitable sequel, we're unleashing version 1.1 of Doom The Way id Did. It sports a load of fixes and tweaks, par times, much better deathmatch support, and a seriously kickass surprise courtesy of our resident art guru Kracov: intermission maps! Download it, enjoy it, and give it a whirl on Odamex sometime if you haven't already.

Also corrected in this release are the grievous sins of a missing author name in the credits (sorry Captain Toenail!) and the lack of DM starts in two maps. Hopefully this version will stand the test of time somewhat unwithered.

Huge thanks to all the team regulars (especially Alfonzo for practically pulling an all-nighter with some stuff), the Odamex crew (esp. HeX for impromptu hosting) and everyone who's given feedback and pointed out all the silly mistakes that slipped through... which admittedly isn't entirely un-id-like but still worth a patch or two. ;)

Sometime in the near future, I'll be updating this thread with a complete archive of submissions and a "DTWID Take Two" mapset of sorts, featuring a selection of runner-ups. There were plenty of cool maps that haven't officially seen the light yet, and that needs to change. Soon. ;)

We can still hope for adding ep.4 to DTWID, or are you postponing the idea until you are done with D2TWID? :)

The interpics are fantastic. Love the ep2 animation and how the buildings and places in e3 really resembles the map/name

also

the Vault changes are fantastic. now the map is really 10 times better, even 10 times better than the original :D Core looks pretty good now too.

Works for me. That said, my version of Chocolate Doom is ~9 months old.

UDTWID is more or less slated to happen after D2TWID, though the details are sketchy at best since it hasn't quite been planned out. But it'll happen. ;)

You're doing something wrong. It's been tested extensively with Chocolate.

Coolbeans. :)

Although, a strange thought occurred to me, but it seems too early to really go into it. I just want to go ahead and ask if you guys were playing with the thought of a "Final Doom the Way ID Did", or more specifically "Final Doom the Way Team TNT Did"?

Yeah, and in order to finally blow us all away:

"Heretic The Way Raven Did" (HTWRD)
"Hexen The Way Raven Did" (HxTWRD)
"Strife The Way Rogue Did" (STWRD)

Then we finally have the whole series complete, I think. xD Kidding, of course. But actually at least a Heretic pack would really be cool at some point, it doesn't get too much attention. Anyway, first things first, looking forward to this Doom II project. Two are actually in the works right now I think, besides this one "Doom II Redux". May be the year of D2 remakes. Romero wants to re-release an improved Doom II in 2014 (20th anniversary) as well, I have read. :D

I'd love HTWRD, HSOTSRTWRD, HBHTWRD and HDOTDCTWRD.

STWRD would be the most challenging project, though, what with all the art and voice acting.
