Landing through the teleporter I was instantly set upon again. This time the defense was much heavier, but it fell to my chaingun. The building had a distinct dirty feel to it, with rust being evident from where I stood, and the lighting being dimmer. I have a feeling the corruption pouring from this building had damged it as well.
I found a shotgun on a console in a corridor. The lights flickered, making killing the monsters within somewhat more difficult, but I found the lifts leading from it and cleared the rooms contents quite quickly, the shotgun coming in handy. The flickering lights and dark areas were used intelligently by the monsters, and they had subverted the building considerably. A small part of the flooring in the main corridor had been smashed through, a glimpse of glowing rock underneath. Floating above the rock was a blue orb. Walking near it, I became infused with a second life of sorts...
But this was quickly stripped from me by the ambushers, leaving me at little of an advantage. After wading through toxins, slaughtering all in my path and wishing I could find a radiation sheilding suit to get across the crusted over toxins in order to reach the combat armour in between the two pipe-openings. My map revealed that there was a hidden room in a pumps-room. The two switches in the room only pumped the toxins, allowing me to get to another two switches... I think pressing these quick enough would let me in, but I was short of time, so I pressed on with out it.
The red key door had blood leaking from under it, and the walls either side were also leaking blood from various holes... I had no idea what to expect, but I stepped forward to open it with the key I'd wrested from demon control.

There we are. Hopefully by the time I get to chapter 6's part, I'll have finished it...
Just as a note, the logfiles are sort of describing the chapters, but not revealing too much. The chapters are quite short, the longest of which only has about 67 monsters in it, and the shortest having 27 or so (so far). Each chapter is part of one large level, you see.
As soon as I opened the red key door I was thrust forward into a red mist, landing under some powerful light source which made things a bit clearer in the immediate area underneath it.
The walls were running with blood, the floor was thick with blood, and somehow blood was all over the ceiling. The metal lightsource had blood dripping over it's casing, and there was a orange-tinged rock poking through the curtian of blood falling. The smell was indescribable. A couple of demons were upon me in about the time it took this to register, so I killed them. Pressing the switch behind them teleported me onto a bloody cube with symbols inscribed into it... I'd landed inside of something which was now a bloody mess around my feet.
After clearing that room and being sure to avoid the metal poles pummeling the flesh-like mess underneath them on the wooden surface, I made my choice between a jump up, and a swim through a seemingly physics defying room of blood... I chose to jump. Monsters clawed at me from a cage, but I put them out of their misery... realising that I was out of ammo. I stepped down from my corridor, and there was a black medikit sitting on a marble pillar. Picking it up I was infused with strength and rage. A beating heart replaced the box as I turned to face my ambush and beat it down.
Moving forwards after the massacre, I beat my way through another room, then swum through another physically impossible room of blood and landed in a lower room, beating through the rest before sliding under a brick wall into a dull dark place. What now?
Phobus are you planning to put that text ingame anywhere? From just a glance I can say i'm probably gonna be one to not bother reading it if I see it in game
I wanted to something similar with my portal wad but I thought it would put the gameplay to a halt all the time so I decided to keep it simple.
In a bit I'll devote a couple of hours to getting chapter 6 done, or as near done as possible in the time... assuming I don't get bored or just failto get going for whatever reason (It's happened once or twice before )
Now:
Spoiler: Chapter 4: Sadist

-{LOGFILE 5}
The area I'd landed in after crawling under the low brick wall was dark... it also felt distinctly chilled, as though it was being kept cold and grim. A torture chamber atmosphere, if ever I'd felt one. As I moved towards the narrow corridor, I heard a noise... I jumped back quickly. The ceiling was coming down fast. It hit the squashed assortment of gore, and rose again slowly... I ran under, straight into a small ambush, which I quickly flattened with my overpowered punches. Moving forwards onto a red platform, I was suddenly swamped by fireballs... to avoid being incinerated, I jumped over the side into the murky brown pool... and was set upon by a demon which blended into the darkness...
I climbed out of the pool later, two fuzzy corpses in my wake. The door I saw opened easily, and showed me a chainsaw embedded into a pile of meat, and two cages with monsters screaming at me and trying to get me. I grabbed the chainsaw and made short work of them... a staircase below me seemed the only way on...
I ran down it, fireballs raining from nowhere, and was infused with another blue sphere. A wave of flying skulls, demons and two flying, horned demons charged at me. I chainsawed at them, running to try and find an advantage... a green sphere above stretched out skin on a canvas... it might be my only chance. Avoiding the growling masses fighting it out to get to me, I tried to scale the skin-canvas. It lowered and rose, allowing me to get to the green sphere. I suddenly became untouchable...
The death ensued, and the sphere's effects faded... I pressed the switch in the room and left back up the stairs, running in case I got fried. Wading back through the pool, a new route was open to me... lighter than the chamber. It seemed to lead to red rock...
I do appreciate that the stuff in the spoilers is all a bit long and superfluous, but I like creative writing, so I might as well do it for all the difference it makes
Despite distractions being many, I still find a little time to work on this, and consequently, I'm nearly done with Chapter 6. So here's a block of text (and a screenshot) about chapter 5
Spoiler: Chapter 5: Dante's Pit

-{LOGFILE 6}
After collecting the dead marines armanents (he wouldn't need them any more) I carried on out through the red rock cave, and stepped out onto a raised stair case of sorts... just made of volcanic rock. Aside from this red rock stair case, there was just a pit of lava... wouldn't want to fall off of here.
I ran forwards, blasting away the monsters before me, yet it seemed even more were flying from the lava. Very soon I was battling desperately for my life on a higher point of rock. I did see some hope. A blue sphere was in a small metal and marble construction. Keeping my plasma guns barrel glowing, I ran to the blue sphere, slaughtering those that got in my way and distantly hearing their shrieks and they laid into eachother to try and get to me.
Avoiding the trap, I managed to get the blue sphere, once again cheating death.
With their numbers thinned considerably, I finished the rest off and navigated my way to the cave at the end of the stairs, clearing it's contents and moving towards a door set into a mouldy stone structure... like a room which was built into the cave. What would I find here?
Hmm... quadruple. Guess nobodies all that interested. Still, I'll keep updating anyway... not that much more to do, and I might motivate to work on it faster at some point.
Anyway:
Spoiler: Chapter 6: Ascendancy

-{LOGFILE 7}
I came into a large chamber which seemed to be a spiral based around a crusted pool of nuclear waste. Making my way up the spiral, I shot everything in my way, but soon came under attack from numerous fireballs in the centre of the chamber. Large, tough-looking monsters were assualting me from their perch whenever I was in sight... so I ran to cover and carried on upwards.
I found a rocket launcher and a lot of rockets halfway up. That made short work of the monsters in the middle. I carried on upwards, finding myself much higher than when I walked into this chamber,and facing another door...

Chapter 6 is a very short chapter, but oh well. Some maps are tiny, others are huge.
I'm going to try and really kick it into gear now and finish it, as I've still got Virus to do as well, and as I'm applying to do a computer games course at university, a recent release would be helpful for my interview at Dundee (I think).
Ok, I've had enough of writing story sections for each chapter - I'll leave you to play it when it's done and decide how it goes.
I'm currently on chapter 8, which is a prison style area, and will be a little bigger than some of the other chapters.
Trying to get this done as soon as I can so that I can work some more on Virus... however, things like real life, Guitar Hero 3 and Dues Vult 2 are slowing me down a fair bit. The good news for me is that I'm back into mapping an artificial area, rather than natural-looking-attempt areas, which is considerably more intersting, if nothing else.
