ZETH Update and new ZDoom cab(50)

Post by Tormentor667 »

Well, I'm just curious and have a few questions:

1.) What's the new thing about the flat/texture system of .50?

2.) When is (Win)ZETH going to be updated to support the new features?

3.) What are the most interesting new features of .50 and do you have some example screenshots?

1.) Flats can be used on walls, textures could be used on floors, sprites can be used on walls (and floors?), and there's a new texture format simply called "TX" (Which I know almost nothing about).

2.) I don't know

3.) See screenshot

TX means that any graphic lump placed between TX_START and TX_END is treated as a texture. Textures which are defined this way override all other types of textures in the WAD of the same name.

The latest WinZETH (look in the Editing forums) supports it, along with the latest DeepSea. I'm not sure if DoomBuilder or others do or not, so you'll have to just try it and see.

DoomBuilder will support it in v1.1

AFAIK, DoomBuilder already supports it just by entering the flat/texture name manually. It will report "Unknown [flat/texture/whatever]" but it should still work in ZDoom...

Return to “General”
