In-Menu key actions

Hi, I recently played the PS4/PS5 Unity port of Doom it's okay for what it is and this got me to try and play GZDoom with a joystick. So one thing that I liked is that when you enter to the main menu you can Quick Save and Quick Load using the L1 and R1 buttons and I was wondering if it's possible to do this in GZDoom, entering to the main menu and quick save and quick load using button presses. In menu - no.

But why would you want to open a menu to quicksave/load when you can assign keys to do that directly from game? (Options -> Customize Controls -> Other -> Quicksave/Quickload)
