Gun Shot Wounds

Regarding vanilla Doom, I want to see each bullet cause a visible gun shot wound in all enemies wherever I shoot them. Wounds that appear in real time. Is this possible?

I guess you could have a blood-splat actor that just clings to the enemy, but that'll look visually pretty messy since it won't appear to be attached and it'll move around a lot. Otherwise I don't really see this as being technically feasible.

Not an expert, but I don't think that's possible, or if it is, it wouldn't turn out as expected.

I think a better take would be doing something similar to what Quake 2 did but with sprites instead of models. Have a bunch of damaged enemy frames and have them loaded once the enemy's health drops to a certain point/when shot, or something.
