keep running when focus lost

i am running some wads with deathmatch while i go and do things such as general house work and want to leave some music on, but when i change to firefox, the game stops! is there a launch parameter to launch the game and keep it running while the focus is lost, i know source ports of other games such as rvgl has a launch parametor such as

There are two related console variables for this, vid_activeinbackground and i_soundinbackground. In your case, it should be enough to toggle the latter.
