What type cpu should I get for best performance?
More cores or clock speed or both? Intel or AMD?
Gameplay and gore mods cause stutter sometimes.
I have i5-8400, GTX 1070 and 16 GB RAM.

I've split your question into its own thread, since the thread you were bumping was very old and not very closely related to your question.

In general, faster per-core performance will help you more, but you should have 4 cores to avoid problems with background threads getting into the way.
With gore mods that leave behind lots of debris that won't help that much, though. Once the game starts stuttering, having 20% more performance won't do much except delaying the inevitable for a short time.

Does renderer choice matter?
Is there some serious optimizations coming in GZDoom in the future?
How much potential this engine has and can achive?

Not an awful lot; OpenGL and Vulkan can take a little strain off your CPU compared to software rendering, but that primarily affects maps with complex geometry and lighting, and anything with a lot of transparency effects on screen at once. Where a lot of advanced mods really start chugging is in actor processing, especially gore and particle effects, since those are essentially all actors.Baconator wrote:Does renderer choice matter?
