Hello,

First we would like to say thankyou for the great mods out there, eternally grateful.

May I ask, could it be possible to combine both the 'Brutal Hexen RPG' mod with both Hexen and the DLC IWAD? So you could literally play from Map 1 to Map60 in one playthrough?

It seems we can only load either the original Hexen which starts from 'Map1 to Map40' or load the Hexen - Deathkings of the Dark Citadel DLC which starts from 'Map33 to Map60'?

We are using GZDoom with ZDL and everything works fantastic but we don't know if we have done some kind of wrong setup parameters? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These cannot be combined because Deathkings overrides some of the IWAD maps and because Hexen ends with an explicit 'end the game' action. Your only chance would be to remove those multiplayer maps from Deathkings and alter the exit special in the last map in Hexen to transport the player to the first Deathkings map.

This is great news, the possibility of a single playthough would be brilliant, unfortunately after much research we cannot find any information on how to edit the parameters for this new exit special action?

May I ask how would you actually achieve this? I don't quite understand the ''remove those multiplayer maps from Deathkings'' section?

The MegaWAD will be out soon with the new Brutal Hexen RPG DLC update.

Its going to be EPIC

I should hope you're not planning on distributing the entire combined hexen.wad file. :?

True but not everyone can setup Wadsmoosh its too much pissing about, much more professional to combine the game and DLC.

Doing this will be against copyright (and the community rules) as you would be distributing the commercial assets. You would have to release it as a Wadsmoosh like tool or as something that you can use alongside the retail WAD files so that you don't provide the copyrighted material.

Hello and thankyou for the reply.

That's a shame. You do still need the original Hexen WAD to play the combined version but yes the DLC is technically free.

Sorry about this we wont release anything right now.

No I'm saying that you don't technically need the DLC to play this mod, as you only need the original Hexen WAD.

I didn't say its a free DLC.

Example if you had this mod, you would have the DLC technically for free as you only need the original Hexen WAD.

Which is why you really shouldn't be distributing it as-is, because as Kinsie demonstrated, Deathkings very much costs money.

What you can do is package MAP33 to MAP38 from the Hexen IWAD, along with a modified MAP40, and a MAPINFO lump. No content from Deathkings would need to be included. The original IWAD would still be required, so presence of seven of its maps would be acceptable. Load that package along with HEXEN.WAD and HEXDD.WAD and you get a full 60-level single-player/coop campaign.

That's the best you can do without a WadSmoosh-like program.
