So, unpopular opinion: I like Doom 3.
It was actually my introduction into Doom, and I generally enjoy slower-paced shooters with nice, powerful-feeling weapons. The machinegun and plasma rifle especially always felt great in D3.
I know metadoom adapts a few of the weapons, but I don't find the overall playstyle of it that enjoyable.
I'm hoping for a somewhat slower-paced gameplay mod or map pack, with nice meaty guns and challenging encounters that do more than just throw 20+ monsters at you at once.
Has anyone ever tried adapting Doom 3 into classic Doom?

There were a bunch of unfinished projects, mostly for EDGE. You can probably find their fractured remains scattered around ModDB, but I don't know how well they'd run on a modern 3DGE.

There's already a Doom 3 texture pack in works, and it looks great. We'll probably see something more Doom 3 related with those textures.
