ah! a real voxel SSG! :D where did you get that?!

looks more like a model to me. But with graphics from unreal 1 :P

Actually it's a voxelized model from JDRP (sorry for the rip), just to exemplify how relatively easy would be creating voxels for Zdoom if they are ever implemented. Animating a voxel would be even easier than animating a sprite cos you won't have to create any of the angles, just the movement.

either way, it's a win: if voxels are implemented, it'll be kickass. if they're not, i get to continue impressing people with clever fakes. :P

So, Phoenix, I assume that your avatar is made from foxels as well?
You really need to upload a wad with those things. :P

Also, to get back on topic...

Heh. Sorry for being so generic here, but... uh... something. I seriously have no clue what I was going to say...

depends what you mean by "a wad with those things". if you mean a "look-at-me-i'm-a-foxel-wad" wanker showoff thing, I could do that. if you mean a wad with examples and telling people how to construct their own foxel things, no. i struggle with that sort of thing. if you mean a full-fledged wad with gameplay and a plot and whatnot, then yes. when? don't know.

and yes, my avatar is a shot from this wad. It's the first foxel demo I ever made (i called them FVoxels then), and it's quite crude compared to what I've done with them since then. They've come a long way. It's still kind of cool.

Ahh, actually, I thought you did a good job with your fvoxel/foxel tutorial, it was fairly easy to understand and I went right ahead and toyed around with them.

I was fairly successful in my endeavours, so thanks!! :)

you're welcome! :)

it might interest somebody to know I am currently slogging through the act of making a "foxel builder", if you will. the idea is to make it easy to create foxel models out of graphics without fiddling around in photoshop and stuff. even though i've got the process down pat, it's still a bit too long, too convoluted and requires a few too many programs for my liking.
at first this is mainly gonna be for me, while i test it and stuff.. so, it probably won't be released for a while. but yeah (tm).

btw, what kinda stuff did you make with them, Sir_Alien? :)

I will worship whoever makes voxel impse since I am too lazy to do it myself. :P

I think these voxel models should be identical to the original sprites, that would be great, but yeah, it's some hardcore work cos you would have to draw them manually. A faster way would be the voxelized and palette-converted md2's I was talking about, but I don't like them much.

yeah, those models do look off..

i tried using Ken Silverman's slab6 voxel editor a few times.

hardest. program. to use. ever.
can you say, "less keys, more gui?!"

What all voxel editors are there?
