Im looking for a Doom64 weapons mod (only the weapons)

So yeah,ive been trying to find a Doom 64 weapons mod for Zdoom/GZdoom containing only the weapons.(And maybe with Cage's extra animations)

But i only found 2 mods,one wich doesnt seem to work http://www.moddb.com/games/doom-ii/addo ... weapons-v2

I've searched and searched but couldnt find what im looking for,i dont want a TC or having both the weapons and monsters,i just want the weapons with Cage's extra animations maybe if he doesnt mind,or without them it wouldnt bother me anyway.

So i presume that no one has released a Doom64 ''weapons only'' mod for Zdoom/GZdoom yet,it would be nice if someone did this,that person would make us all a favor.

This one is meant to be used with the Doom64 TC for Doomsday, not for ZDoom/GZDoom.

Oh ok,but is there an actual Doom 64 weapons only mod for Zdoom/Gzdoom around ?

Because so far i didnt found any.

Basically here's what the mod must consist of.

1 - Doom 64 weapons sprites for both the 'pick ups' sprites and 'equiped' sprites.

2 - Doom 64 weapons sounds included.

bonus - Cage's extra animations. (tough it doesnt need to be neccesary,but its up to you guys to decide if you want to include it or not)

Just edit the mod and remove all the stuff you don't want. Remove all the DECORATE for monsters, all monster sprites, and only keep the weapons and weapon code intact. This is the D64 mod that I would use to do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k57D9q8WJ74

EDIT: I'm gonna make a D64 weapons only WAD soon, now that I've read this I wouldn't mind having it too.

EDIT 2: So far I have all the weapon sprites copied over and they are working in-game, just need to get the sounds set up and the rest of the code and stuff. To the OP, would you prefer the vanilla weapon effects or the Doom 64 ones? I mean stuff like the plasma balls, BFG explosions, rocket sprites, explosion sprites? They sorta go "with" the weapon so I suppose I'll include them. Would you prefer for the player to be the only one with the Doom 64 weapon sounds? Meaning Zombiemen won't fire their rifles and make the D64's pistol sound? And lastly, what about recoils and pushbacks/quakes when you fire guns? Keep it vanilla Doom 2 style with no movement/recoil effects?

For the weapons effects make it D64 style,for the zombimens,revenants and cyberdemon i guess you can make their weapons sounds D64 since they are supposed to use the same weapons lying around that you pick up and for recoil/pushback ...well i guess well keep it Vanilla Doom 1 and 2.

Also make sure the enemies voices and other monsters projectiles and Taggart (Doom guy) voice are Vanilla Doom 1 and 2.

No problem at all, I thought about it when I read the topic and said to myself "you know, it would be nice to have a D64 weapons ONLY WAD."

Also progress update:

I am going to include the Unmaker too since it's a D64 weapon but it features the three upgrades. Right now I have commented out the code for the upgrades which means it will start fully upgraded. Should I undo that and incorporate the upgrades? The mod I'm pulling this from uses a randomspawner and mixes them in with sphere powerups. The Unmaker itself also uses a randomspawner to mix it in with the BFG. I think it's at a 10% chance to be an Unmaker at the moment. I think this works well since the Unmaker should be rare. There's no set place for it to spawn since it never existed in vanilla Doom. The upgrades gets tricky because this isn't Doom 64, and who gets the Unmaker without getting the three keys amirite? I think it makes sense to make it spawn fully upgraded but that's just my thinking per this mod.

All sprites are in, all the weapons are working as intended but the SSG needs to be tweaked some I think. All sounds are in for the weapons.

How about ammo? Should the ammo pickups be the D64 style or keep them Doom style? I think keeping them Doom style is best, since it's just the guns we want but it's up to you really.

Also I AM using Cage's extra frames, at least I think I am. I mean the Shotgun, SSG, Plasma Rifle all have recoil and reloading animation so I think that's them.

I hope to finish this tonight or tomorrow. :D

For the Unmaker,it would be indeed a wise choice to make it have a 10% chance of spawning but only with certain specific enemies,i would go with any monsters using special weaponry like the Revenant,Mancubus,Arachnotron,Cyberdemon and Spidermastermind. As for the upgrade i would make it spawn by them too but only after you get the Unmaker.

For the ammos...well keep it Vanilla style.

Yeah the thing is that i've been looking around and it was baffling to me how no one had made a D64 weapons only wad, i only found the weapons either in a Total Conversion or a weapons mod having other weapons in it or any mods incorporating the weapons like LegenDoom or one made for another Emulator instead of ZDoom/GZDoom.

And when i looked for any thread related to the weapons , it was always about only the sprites or reworked sprites , no actual wad.

So i asked myself , why has no ones tought about doing something like this ? Are they just too busy on other projects or they just dont care ?

So yeah,that's why i made this topic,to see if peoples would notice about this.

Oh and one more thing about the Unmaker,i would make it so the stronger the monster the higher the % chance of getting the weapon and it's upgrades,like a Revenant would have 10% chance of droping the weapon and upgrades,while a Mancubus and Arachnotron would be 15%,while the Cyberdemon and SpiderMastermind would be 20%.

Hmm... I'm not sure if I know how to do all that with the percent chances to drop things and check to see if the player has said gun before dropping the items for it. I'm pretty sure it is possible but requires a lot of extra scripting. I'd have to inherit all the monster classes that would have the chance to drop the items, change their death states and such to reflect that, and also perform an inventory check on the player to see if they've got the prerequisite items. That would also conflict with monster only WADs. I'll see if I can work something out.

Well do wathever you think is fine,but since the Unmaker is a special kind of weapon and also powerful,it would be weird if any enemies would be able to drop it,hence why it would be probably better to make it drop by certain enemies.

Plus all the monsters i picked are cyber augmented demons wich would go well with the half cyber and half demonic weapon that is the Unmaker.

As for the upgrades,it would also be weird to get any of the upgrades before you even get the weapon they were made for.

If this doesnt work,well just keep it the way it was with the randomizer for the BFG and the spheres.

I do have some good news, I've made the weapons compatible with other weapon mods as long as the other mods don't use KEYCONF or force a different class. So if a mod or megawad has a new gun, as long as the new gun doesn't use KEYCONF or a new player class, it will work with this WAD.

Found some sick new Chaingun sprites that I think look amazing, (still D64 of course).

Also looking for a pistol pickup sprite since there isn't one. Looks weird to see a Beretta on the right side when it's a Desert Eagle. :|

EDIT: Also thinking about adding these guns to it too. They aren't vanilla D64 but they match the theme and they are in D64 style.

Well i guess you can find a similar colored gun pick up sprite somewhere,im sure there gotta be one that would go well,im gonna check for one too.

Smooth Doom has options to change all of the weapons to D64 style. Even the items.
