Problem with Duke Nukem 2 IMF files

Post by Gothic »

When I play these archives on zdoom, they sound really fast. Does anybody know how can I fix this?

IMF's have no defined tempo, so there's only one tempo ZDoom can actually play them back at.

Does that mean the engine is what decides the tempo? So the Duke Nukem 2 engine plays them right but ZDoom just plays them with a set tempo?

Yes. Specifically ZDoom plays them back at Wolfenstein 3D's rate, 700 tps.

I have an idea to fix this, I might work on it later.

I guess this doesn't have a solution then. I tried to convert the .imf files to .mid and back to .imf, but I had some problems with some audio converters (I only got blank midis)

Try to use Camoto, apparently it should be able to convert IMF to a different Adlib format like DRO. Alternatively, IMF crusher is advertised as being able to convert to a different update rate.

Thanks, Camoto worked perfectly.
