Need sounds for your WAD?

Post by wildweasel »

I've started a sound-making service. If anybody needs a few good sounds for their WAD, let me know. Simply send me a private message on these forums containing the following:

* "Environment" of your WAD (futuristic, medieval, modern, etc)
* Event that the sound is needed for (pistol firing, ammo pickup, person getting hurt, etc)
* Sample rate of the sound - 11 Khz, 22 Khz, 44 Khz, 8-bit, 16-bit. If your WAD is getting a little large, I suggest going with 22 or 11 KHz, in 8-bit.
* For gunshots, indoor or outdoor. (Indoor is the raw sound, Outdoor has an echo on it.)

A few things to consider:

* ALL of my sounds are created mostly from scratch - I do take little bits and pieces from existing sounds, and I never use copyrighted material.
* I test all my sounds using ZDoom 2.0.47i, for purposes of volume and consistency checking.
* I come equipped with Cool Edit Pro 2.1 and a Sound Blaster Live Platinum. I can achieve many effects like this. So if you want your voices to sound more "alien", or more mature; or would like gunfire to have more bass, I can deliver.
* I can provide samples of my sounds for those who would like a preview before they "hire" me.

Remember, if you want my help, send me a PM.

Someone who needs them (and quality) should encode them with FLAC ( http://flac.sf.net/ advert advert). If anybody who wants them for a non-ZDoom WAD, they can recode it to WAV.

Where is the catch? -> Free of charge? :P

I can make an airplain from a notebook leaf and throw it at your general direction, hoping it would reach you eventually.

There is something called IBN (international bank number AFAIK) that you might be able to use.

If people aren't going to pay for that Deep thing, they probably aren't going to pay for this either.

I would say use the ones in Freedoom, but further analysis dictates that they are ripped from System Shock.

An official press release!

I am now able to rip sounds and music tracks from several major consoles, thanks to a setup involving patch wires, tape recorders, and a Radio Shack A/V switchbox.

If you want music/sounds from games on:

Sega Genesis
Super Nintendo
Playstation 1
Nintendo 64
Nintendo GameCube
NES
Game Boy, Color, and (in a few rare cases) Advance

...send me a PM here! I'll let you know what I've got.

Nanami: Don't get me wrong, I did look for stuff in my database...but the most I came up with was a distortion of a death sound from Strife...and I'm already using that in my own mod...

Sorry...

Oh well. I already had some sounds that I'm using and wouldn't mind keeping.
