Convert standard Doom maps to UDMF

Convert standard Doom maps to UDMF

Any easy way to do that? I remember I did that for Doom in Hexen format and it was easy and quick, converting an entire wad automatically. I haven't found a way for UDMF that doesn't look quite painful or annoying.

You should be able to convert to Hexen format through ZWadConv, then from there to UDMF.

I think he's more asking about a converter to UDMF, since he mentions that going Doom->Hexen was easy.

Either way, a wiki search turned up UDMFConvert, which seems like what you're looking for.

Well if the 2 way conversion is easy, I'll go that way. UDMFConvert's link is broken though.

The author site just dead long time ago, only found its Git repository.

Also found the other one called Wad2UDMF in Doomworld's editors and utilities list and ZDooM wiki, but links both dead. :(

Somebody should be upload them to doomworld /newstuff or somewhere stable...

Oh well, can't you just open Doom Builder and save the map in the zdoom format? I'm asking that because now I'm wondering if I'll be able to edit my current vanilla WIP maps in the future with Zdoom specific features? (I'm assuming UDMF is something related to zdoom, I'm new to doom editing).

If you switch the map format this way, you'll kinda lose all the tags and specials and flags you've set, so you'll have to reset pretty much every line and every thing on the map. It is not exactly fun.

Wait, what exactly are the advantages of changing map format? Dont they all do pretty much the same thing anyway, just a different way of definning the data in it?
