Alright - I am not kissy assing the devs in this post. So don't take it that way.

Personally, I think that Graf and Randy do a lot more for ZDoom than certain people here are willing to admit. Anyone who's been watching the SVN tree lately knows that Randy is, quite in fact, working on DoomScript. He's making a virtual machine for it all to run in - which will be quite handy when it comes time to actually implement it. And Graf? He's kinda the ZDoom grunt. He does things that Randy might be too busy to do. Yeah, Graf is busy himself, but hey, aren't we all? I'd be shit fucked if I was expected to do half the things people want him to do. So fucking what if his programming skills aren't as good as you might want - hey, guess what?! His skills are a fuck of a lot better than mine. And they're probably a lot better than about 95% of the people who visit this forum. It irks me to no end when people insult the programming skills of ANYONE, when they know absolutely fucking nothing about it themselves.

That being said, however, personality-wise, I could easily expect more from both of them - Graf in particular. Graf acts like a child in many aspects, is immature, and even sometimes destructive when he doesn't get his way. (Sorry Graf - but it's true) And randy, well... he's a great guy, but you just never see him. Can only guess what he's up to - but on the other hand, you can't blame him. If Doom was my life, it'd be very short indeed. There's a fuck of a lot more out there than Doom.

The pro's and the con's balance themselves out. Between the two of them, I think you have a very solid dev team for ZDoom - sure, it couldn't hurt to bring on another dev, but you'd be hard pressed to.

It makes me sick seeing posts saying "oh, these 2 are the greatest people in the world, aaaaaah" etc etc, but at the same time I know the rants that Graf is incompetent are also not true.

The point is, yeah, the dev team COULD be improved - but some of the claims I've seen reading parts of this thread are pure crap.

P.S. What Cutman and Firebrand said, too.

100% agreed with SoulPriestess here. (So that means if any of you guys start reporting her post, that's gonna get ignored.)

and if anymore flaming/shitstorming happens in this thread, it's going to get locked.

Says the person who unlocked it. Also this has been a very low shitstorm thread. Like, instead of a shitstorm it was more of a small drizzle if diarrhea.

And would somebody please explain why anyone would go about reporting SoulPriestess post?

Because they'd be a jackass who didn't want to hear anything but variations on "WAH! THE DEVELOPERS HATE HUMANITY!" I'm sure they're not making money here... Personally I'm impressed at how many requests do get in.

I think matters were expressed things very clearly: If you don't like the developers, and you think you could do it better, learn programming and write your own friggin' port.

Anyways, here's to some awesome software. :)

I'll admit I've avoided posting here considering the dark and doomerous nature of the thread, but after reading SoulPriestess's post, I've at least got to point out that she's hit the nail on the head, in my eyes. Not too much more to be said, really.

[EDIT] Yikes, that missing comma led to one hell of a painful misprint. :P

Do you need some Tylenol for that? :P

Such colourful imagination you've got there. >_<

Also I think this thread has far lived its usefulness... it should be locked already. The discussion was pretty much over when it was [Bullshit]'ed anyway.

That's what happens if moderators start second-guessing each other. I had my reasons to close this thread and nothing that happened after reopening it made me change my opinion.

Oh no. Please. Anything but that.

All in all this thread's purpose was nothing more then to vent out aggression, in my humble opinion.

I agree that this thread has served its purpose but I don't think it should be locked. People expected nothing good to come from this from the start and they were wrong, so who knows what other useful things can come from here?

What good have we found here aside from reasserting that most people complaining are full of shit?

Maybe it needed to be reasserted. :|

Still, it's nice.
Eyecandy or not, 3D-floors is win! Until hardware acceleration gets added to Zdoom's software renderer that allows 3D floors, I think GZdoom is as good as it gets for a Zdoom-based port. That or Linked portals like Eternity, which does allow for more stationary flexibility. But neither of those things will ever be added, AFAIK. :P
