Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
So I was thinking about this closed report and was wondering if we should put an official list of unfixable compatibility issues on the wiki? Of course the issues should be of really low impact, but it might be useful for reference whenever someone mentions ZDoom's backwards compatibility or in case another report surfaces we can easily remember what the reason was (introduction and why it can't be fixed). In addition to describing the issue it would provide instructions on how to fix a mod broken by it similar to the page I maintain for ECWolf.
Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
Why not. There are a few mods with known compatibility issues ([wiki]Doom Resurrection[/wiki], [wiki]RTC-3057[/wiki], [wiki]KDIZD[/wiki] v1.1)... Usually the problem and the fix is mentioned on the mod's page, but some mods do not have a page at all.

Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
Is there a particular reason why the Doom Resurrection and RTC-3057 issues aren't fixed in ZDoom? The former could be fixed by making the error non-fatal. For the latter, the old decorate parser could be made to specifically ignore lower case pistol I would think?
Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
A solution could be to have a "hack" system in place, as an extension of the map compatibility stuff. GZDoom for OS X already has something like that.
Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
[wiki]Special:WantedPages[/wiki] remembers that there used to be red links caused by interwiki links not working, but now that they do work, they haven't been removed from the list of wanted pages...
Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
Sorry, I tried running the rebuildall.php script, but I think it just made things much, much worse.
I take that back, deleting [wiki]ZDoom:All system messages[/wiki] took care of the extra 700+ entries. But now it reveals two red "links" from MediaWiki:Common.js. It looks like the corresponding page on Wikipedia no longer has the code included here, so I wonder if we really still need it.

Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
The MediaWiki installation has been upgraded from 1.21 to 1.22. I wouldn't be surprised if I messed something up in the process.

What do you mean? I have an iPad, and I can browse the wiki on it just fine.

There are utilities that you can use to download wikis for offline use.GhostKillahZero wrote:But what if someone wants to browse the wiki offline?

Not everyone has access to a computer, so most people I know have ipods/ipads/iphones, this is just an idea for those who don't have computers.wildweasel wrote:There are utilities that you can use to download wikis for offline use.
Re: ZDoom Wiki Thread
How much do those people need a version of the Wiki for their hand-held device? I mean, what are they likely to be doing that causes them to want to refer to the Wiki? Editing is the usual reason and I don't suppose that there will be too many people editing for ZDoom on their ipod.
Also, iOS? No love for people using better non-Apple hand-held devices.
