A thing I did for a friend's mod using the BD V21 plasmagun as a base. I think I'll touch it up some more later but it's good enough as it is currently, I guess.
I'm tempted to do the same concept with the vanilla plasmagun...

Oh no. They're exactly the same.
not so. Theres the ones you posted and there's others that are fixed (feet and head still there etc...) Based on strife death anims


Oh and that 'plasmagun reveal' is excellently portrayed...

You mean like Marathon did? Hmm. That would take a pretty talented spriting effort. Also, it might get a little weird having rotating corpses when you are walking around. The rotation always looks a bit weird for static actors, imo. Also, clipping into walls might be a problem for those actors that lie down (zombies, imps) as opposed to just melting into a puddle of offal.

I have done it! After a painfully long amount of time, my Plasma Baron sprites are done!

Sprite Sheet:


WAD with simple code and cut sprites:
Baron Gunner

Feel free to use this fellow how you like, just credit me for the baron sprites and Captain Toenail for the plasma gun sprites

Code to have normal Barons pick up and use rifles

all these doom64/vanilla weapons sprite hybrids got me working on my old classic doom64/vanilla shotgun again.
all the 'best' bits of both shotties mixed together...
this time it has the lighter wood(?) so smooth it could be composite? stock to match the original a bit more.

as you can see I've matched it more to the muted tones of the buttstock-attack image (sorry forgot the author of that) rather than the over shiny vanilla stock.
reload comes in two flavours; doom64 centred or a duke3d style pump-on-the-right style.
I was also toying with a rounder barrel but ditched this in the end.

Cool as always, looks like it could be used for a good doom enhancement mod....

I just decided to make the anims for VriskaSerket's classic "doom32" shotgun as ive totally fell in love with that sprite:

as you can see theres the standard pumping and one with some hands added (eriance).
I also recoloured neoworms butstock attack to match and slapped together a pickup sprite...

i figured people could add whatever muzzleflash they desired
