That's the intro animation for the stages, not a in-game picture. The game works just like Virtua Cop : You just see the crosshair.

The handles and most of the gun looks very dark, it could use some contrast to bring out it's details since only the front end of the gun has any brightness. I'm gonna go with bottom one, it has way more interesting features going on.

I think the bottom one is better in every way. I personally don't like the pointy tips of the top one and the bottom one looks less oddly shaped.
