Hey, I'm glad someone liked it|! I tried to put some animation and flash on but I think your edit would go smoother. Something like this ( I made a while ago)

Image

edit: Yeah looking back my version is a bit ugly compared to yours. I could have a go animating and gunflash'ng it

The bright blue looks a little silly, but it otherwise looks awesome!

Is this better now? Ignore the other colors besides of skin, though. And i finally followed kinsie's original sprite's skin color.

this is a little explosion but I think it would work better as a fiery puff of some kind

Image

and this rather smooth animating blue fireball impact

Image

and here is a higher res version of a Stock Explosion from the 90s which has been used in a hell of alot of games (unreal tournament and c&c tiberian sun I remember at least), sized three ways.

It works good in additive mode and I sprited it because I wanted an explosion like the one from Quake 1 for the Vore Firepod to go along with the gutsy quake explosion sound, but the quake explosion is pretty limited and this one reminded me heavily of it with all the sparks (and the small-but-stout feel of it).

below it is a doom explosion with elements from smooth doom adapted for a Ground Explosion, made this adjustment so that I could make a gas explosion spread out from the mancubus and barrels without the bottom part looking like its under the floor (zdoom, not gz). I know the 2nd frame looks pretty funny but when properly animated you actually dont notice.

Question; how do you guys make your gun sprites so detailed and smooth-looking? I've been wanting to re-create some Halo weapons from the first-person perspective but haven't figured out how (nor have I found any good references to go off of :L)

I generally use MSPaint, Gimp 2 and FireAlpaca btw.

I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that its chase, attack, and pain animations are all indistinguishable in every way except color. Especially since that color takes up so little of the sprite. Seems like it'd make it really difficult to tell what one of them is doing at a glance.

Current Dead Flare have same issue. I don't have enough of time for make it with differences in frames, sadly. I really hope I'll go to serve my country soon and that's why I'm hurry with Flare so much.
