Thinking about HD-ifying Heretic again.

Wanna just redo all the weapon and monster behaviour from scratch, forget whatever was in the canon, my only creative guiding principles are the basic unavoidable implications of the resources (gotta have small red flying guys, tall bony green guys, etc.) and this song on loop:

Oh, good idea! I honestly think the enemy behavior is not really deadlier than Hexen's. Maulotaur, on the other hand...

But i would like to see your take on Heretic AI. I bet it's gonna be like medival fantasy Hideous Destructor!

I actually would be highly interested in something like that. I can't imagine what the wound management system would turn into in regards to Heretic being fantasy rather than technological sci-fi/modern. Or even just basic weapon handling and weapon accuracy.

Would be funny if it would be like Dwarf Fortress's "Adventurer Mode".

HD'ing the staff would probably make using it more enjoyable than it currently stands in vanilla Heretic. If I could potentially gib someone by lunging full force while striking with the staff that'd be rather wonderful.

collecting herbs and spiders webs, chewing piece of bread find in the barrels. sanitize with fire. bone orthosis. Keeping your bow string dry. removing rust from blade. drying your gambeson after swimming. Removing armor to sneak. grease self with excrement or gibs to avoid being sniff.

and everywhere magic stuff, just not for you pitiful unbeliever.

- when do you start? whats the plan?

I'm wondering how feasible it is to recreate Blood 2 in GZDoom, similar to how other shooters have been remade / reworked in GZDoom in the past.

The reason I'm interested in it is because Blood 2 is notoriously buggy and unfinished, which could make it a nice opportunity to polish it into a product worth playing for Blood fans.
I don't know how easy it is to extract the resources though.

Early Lithtech has an aspect issue (it's always 16:10), so the corrective doom aspect stuff that applies to the world, textures and models would work in favor for any accurate direct Blood 2 adaptations...

How about the Food of DooM ?

No it's not about eating demons.
All weapons are replaced by food, but rather than having a food fight with the demons, Doomguy eats foods that provide him various offensive capabilities.

Pistol -> Watermelon - you can shoot seeds out of your mouth for little damage to enemies, like the pistol
Shotgun -> Garlic Pasta - after eating pasta a powerful blow of garlic out of your mouth damages enemies in medium range
Super Shotgun -> Beans and Tomatoes - we all know beans give gas - each spoon of this dish makes Doomguy fart intensely on close range, sending damaging gas in all directions
Chaingun -> Lemon - we all know sucking on a lemon while looking at someone makes them feel extreme discomfort - provided you keep looking at the enemy they'll be damaged as you suck on the sour fruit, so much the enemies eventually commit suicide out of discomfort
Rocket Launcher -> Hot Chilli - after gulping a spoonfull Doomguy breathes a fireball at the enemy
Plasma Rifle -> Ice Sorbet - breathe icy projectiles on mid ranges
BFG -> Durian Fruit - known worldwide as the stinkiest food ever, eating it will greatly damage the demons in a wide diameter in front of you.

All foods are magic so they don't end.
Ammo is universal but instead of finding more food all ammunition is replaced by Sparkling Water, Ruffage and Alka-Seltzer(TM) that all increase Stomache Capacity that decreases with each of the "weapons" use.

Making graphics for this would be very easy - just use photos of assorted foods and paste DG's hands on them and happy DECORATE'ing / ZScripting.

I really enjoy thinking of the idea that some random foods you find and eat give you powers, especially in doom. I can just imagine eating a lemon and staring at a chaingunner! :lol: now that's pog. but how about the melee weaps?

Surely not a spoon or an electric knife. Maybe something that is infinite and works on close ranges, like slurping down a magical can of soda that annoys enemies.

an egg that you crack on the enemy's head, really hard. (fist)
an infinite soda that you dump on enemies. (chain)
a really sugary kiwi that gives you rapid kiwi-smacking (as in, smacking with kiwis) skills. (chain)
invuln looks like a star fruit, cause stars give you invulnerability.

Maybe a fist could be an onion that you can rub against enemies.
Or the chainsaw canned limburger you can spray enemies with so they faint due to the smell :D
Sodas could increase STOMACHE CAPACITY that acts as ammo.
Eggs may be grenades perhaps? ;)

Kiwi could be a speed powerup, you know, the little bird Kiwi is probably a fast runner or something :|
I like the idea of a starry invulnerability :)

Gabe the Dog/dog barking soundfont (atleast one that is compatible with ZDoom engine ports and Doom midi music, there is one already but doesn't work with the port and it's probably intended for pianos or something)
