What the future holds...

Well, I have been thinking about how far Zdoom has gone. Not that I understand the code or anything, just what I see in the games. And I thought such a post wouldn't be pushing Randy or anything, just an unpretentious poll.

playable strife would be nice. especially since that would mean more weapons and monsters to use in other modes which would be a nice benefit to everyone anyway. plus i have that game and haven't/can't play it :P

Same here, I can playt it though... but that's not the point... it would look so nice in high resolutions and maiing use of cool sound code and all that :-). Plus, it would add an hullava lot to Doom :-D.

we have been waiting for it since 1.22 and still no work has been done. it hasent even started...

our current way of getting features added seems to work fine...

my bet is on RL will explode in rage and post a million arguements and then get in a fight with hotwax within 1 hour

Yeah, but WFDS is probably directly related to STRIFE isn't it?

Something about carts and horses comes to mind :)

Unfortunately I have to agree. I don't see this happening anytime soon which is a real shame. If it was possible to create new weapons and monsters with DECORATE I think most people will be more than happy. But not even that is possible. :(

I'd even accept the really crude soluion of adding some dummy actors and frames to the Dehacked table. Combined with the accessibility of Heretic/Hexen's code pointers, all object flags and not just the old ones and some customizable functions that can shoot any projectiles this could open up so many possibilities and this cannot be that much work. :(

Better a simple solution now than having to wait for the perfect solution for all eternity.

Never played Strife either (looks like a strange game...), so I voted Hexen fixes.

Strife is not a strange game. Theres just as much visceral carnage as any other first person game, its just it has a side order of plot served with it.

Try and think of Deus Ex done Doom style :D

Oh, and even though I am probably the worlds crappest coder, I have been making progress to a playable strife

I voted to add Strife support for several reasons.

1. I feel it's the next logical choice of a game that should be supported.
2. Strife would most definetly look awesome in high res.
3. As a result of all the options ZDoom has, Strife will be easier/more enjoyable to play.
4. All the resources in Strife will then be able to be put into a Doom game.

But then what do I know I've been asking for this way back on the notgod forums. I believe I got shot down because there is no source. Also to take the time to play vanilla Strife, and take notes on how every thing acts/works would be to emmense. I believe this to be true simply because it's just Randy doing it. But that doesn't mean I can't wish for it.
