The released Doom source code, I assume.

It should be noted that I know nothing about programming, so let's just wait for someone else to answer this...

All the above stuff but i'm sure the original doom code wasn't used, it was the boom source that was used. I'm also sure that it's coded in C++... plus I can't think of anything stupid to say :-D. HAY! I'm being more usefull than these so-and-so's! :-D

Pretty sure Randy used the first release of the DOOM source before it was GPL'd.

He was the first one to use HEXEN format DOOM levels (a no brainer to get the added flexibility even without ACS) before HEXEN source was released and IIRC still the only port to do so. Legacy was talking about doing that soon - maybe they have?

And as Biff said, TLC.
