Lumpy Goodness

Postby sirjuddington » Sun Nov 09, 2003 4:13 am

Over the last day or so I've been working on a little Doom wad lump manager. Since now it's basically functional, I decided to release a beta version. Basically I made it so I could import any type of file as a lump and not have it converted or anything (like Wintex and XWE tend to do).

So yeah, it's nothing too speccy, but some of you may like it for it's simplicity, I dunno :P...

Pretty good, I like a tool that is unassuming ;)

Not to be a pain, but do you think you could add drag and drop support from explorer windows? I havent seen one tool that does this, but it would save a hell of a lot of time for mass importation of files.

Then we could edit all our lumps outside the wad, and with one swipe shove them into a wad.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea. Shouldn't be too hard to implement. (You can already drag wads on it to open them, and it works with the 'Open With...' function too).

I get "Unexpected Error" upon trying to execute it.

Judging from the dependancy on msvbvm60.dll, I'd say Visual Basic 6 :)

I think Lumpy was the name of id's original lump manager.

Whatever happened to that editor that some guy came by the old ZDoom forums on notgod and promoted? That was pretty cool IIRC. I can't remember the name.

That would be correct ;)

I was originally going to use VC6, but I lost my copy of Visual Studio, and so I borrowed my friend's, only to find that VC on that has some files corrupted and won't work :/

As for the "Unexpected Error", I have no idea :P Sounds like VB being vague as usual.

Oh and I've implemented map previewing (Doom format only at the moment), and once I've put in the mass import thing I'll release 0.6...

Yeah, XWE does have a map preview feature. Not sure if it opens Hexen format maps though. It also has (somewhat limited) map editing capabilities.
