ZDOOM v1.22 issues
ZDOOM v1.22 issues
ZDOOM v1.22 is the oldest version, but doesn't work when I double click this:
W_GetNumForName: STCFN033 not found!
This is probably an error message when I try to load this up.
Especially, I think it was a deleted sprite, or should I find it in my Doom2.wad and extract it?

Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
What version is your Doom 2 wad file? The missing graphic error, if I recall, is added with the 1.9 patch. I recall a universal patcher is available somewhere to help you get it up to date.
Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
For SOME reason, I haven't talked later, but my Doom 2 version wad is called 1.9. I don't think I'm going to let you create a universal patcher. But whatever, let's leave it in.

I don't understand what you're saying. Does the Lazy DOOMers Patching Tool not do anything?Roozy1999 wrote:For SOME reason, I haven't talked later, but my Doom 2 version wad is called 1.9. I don't think I'm going to let you create a universal patcher. But whatever, let's leave it in.

It's supposed to be used on your DOOM2.WAD. If you're not sure which version your DOOM2.WAD is, use this hash value calculator and compare the results to the hashes on this Doom Wiki page.

It says:
But then, I ran ZDOOM and the best for me is that it's working fine.Run-time Error 53: File not found

Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
What is giving you that error?
Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
The error that gave me info is the Lazy DOOMers Patching Tool.
Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
Why are you running ZDoom 1.22? Why do you think its the "oldest version" and why do you desire it? Where did you get your copy of Doom 2? What hardware do you have?
Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
As someone who has been using ZDoom since before version 1.22, I too was wondering this.Danfun64 wrote:Why do you think its the "oldest version"

Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
May be he's using an ancient machine such as a 486 or pentium. For such machines i'd recommend ZDoom 2.1.4 Classic.
Version 1.22 will be faster on 486s for sure due to the MIDAS audio library but if i remember right it was unstable and crashed from time to time (1.23 betas were stable but used FMOD already).

Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
Just for kicks, one day I'd like to try the first ZDoom release ever... I heard it used to run on MSDOS? I'm probably going to need to use DOSBox or something. I haven't joined the community yet when that happened (my first ZDoom was also 1.22 which already ran on Windows)
Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
I remember at least one version that was pretty popular before 1.22. I think it was the 1.17 series. IIRC there were a few but the final and most reliable was 1.17C I think. There were versions before that. I remember using a very early one back when dosdoom, legacy and boom were still very much the latest and best news in the doom modding community. I also remember that it had a nasty bug that made it crash when you changed levels. I don't recall the version number but it was around 1.0 (either under or over) and I'm *fairly* sure it was a Windows binary (but early versions were also available as dos exes up until at least very 1.17 and *maybe* 1.22).

Re: ZDOOM v1.22 issues
Let's not forget that the first ZDoom that bears any resemblance to today is 1.16, which was when Hexen map support was added- Up tp 1.14 it only could handle Doom format.
