I haven't seen any such wad, so I don't see any sense in Independent JPEG.

Seriously, though... What was the reason for adding JPEG support to ZDoom, anyway? I don't see much use in JPEGs for games, what with all the ugly artifacting.
(I guess I might not get an answer, since that was probably done by Randy)
Re: Show me a real wad which uses modular music
.jpg still works for actual photographs or photographic textures and you can put those in the game without a huge sacrifice in quality.
In fact, .jpg's only real weakness is any graphic that doesn't already have texture noise similar to its artifacting to begin with. You can easily make things like wood and dirt into .jpg's without a huge sacrifice in quality but save a lot of space over .png.

JPG is rarely used in ZDoom mods, but it can have its uses for things like large, high-res textures or skyboxes where per-pixel clarity isn't as big a concern.

Did you really make Nightmare from Serpent: Resurrection? That track plays in the church map.Xaser wrote:I not only use module music -- I make it. See dead.air for a recent case. It's got a custom score that takes advantage of the module format to pack multiple songs in the same file. Have fun doing that with streaming audio without increasing the filesize by an order of magnitude.

Maybe; haven't played it. Is it this one? If so, that's indeed mine from before I picked a proper artist name... meaning that's a hella old track, geeze. It probably pre-dates all my released Doom works.
