How to convert DOOM format PWADs to UDMF?

Here I describe the process of converting DOOM format pwads to Doom in Hexen format pwads
and then Doom in Hexen format pwads to UDMF pwads, using both, the Command Line Window and a Batch file.

Hey, thanks for the tutorial. I know this is a bit old but figured I'd thank you anyway.

But on a completely unrelated note, on your webpage, what is that image at the top from with all the imp balls?

How about converting UDMF to Hexen format? Also UDMF is UMDF in the title.

Why would you want to go back to Hexen format? So much is lost in the conversion...

Well, it can be done, just load the map and type "dumpmap <wad name>" in the console. You'll have to go in and put all your objects back, though, but the sector tags and some linedefs should be okay.

in "Universal Doom Map Format ZDoom extensions" (udmf_zdoom.txt).
It is used when changing map format from Hexen to UDMF and from UDMF to Hexen.
