Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
Blood's could do in a pinch, especially with minor edits.
Apparently Raven, Id and 3D Realms all had the same hand model, as just about every shooter by them had a guy with hairy arms. This was still true in 1997 with Shadow Warrior, even if the fetish gear was covering them. :p

Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
Given that Lo Wang is Asian and seems to have a grey beard too, it seems unlikely that he should have excessively dark haired hairy arms.

I was going to say basically the same thing but cut it at the last minute for some reason.wildweasel wrote: I'd imagine Duke hands would probably fit just fine, with a mild bit of color correction. They're both of the bare, hairy variety. =P
Piece of cake.
Can't imagine why Raven did a hairy, muscular elf. Maybe just bucking a few trends?Snarboo wrote: Apparently Raven, Id and 3D Realms all had the same hand model, as just about every shooter by them had a guy with hairy arms. Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
I guess Corvus is just a different breed of elf. Raven changed him into a lean gymnast for Heretic 2, so he was still a little different the last time we saw him.
Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
Maybe this is more like how Raven imagined him:

Corvus: 100% Elf, 100% Gorilla, 100% USDA badass.

Him big he-man elf!
On the opposite side, I have been doing some off-and-on work for a female Heretic elf. Could probably do it as a class... Must resist the urge to call her Corvette!
This is not completely off-topic, as I had to modify the hand sprites to de-fuzz them.

Duke Nukem 3D, Blood (I think), Shadow Warrior, and Rise of the Triad all have the hands of 3DR Employees, which were digitized from videos. I think some of them are George Broussard's, while others are Joe Siegler's.Snarboo wrote:Blood's could do in a pinch, especially with minor edits.

A collection of hands I've edited, or some that weren't on the original sheet. :)

Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
It was created for re-handing a Counter Strike weapon edit. Works fine on the gun, really :P
Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
The changing levels of hair on the arm are more worrying than their sizes IMO.
Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
Apparently Doomguy carries a razor now.
To me, it simply seems that most hand-edits don't seem to take into account that only one side of the arm generally has hair. To illustrate, all sprites on the leftmost side of Marty's pic are "anatomically correct", so to speak -- the first two show the top of the arm (hairy), while in the bottom two, the underside of the arm (non-hairy) is visible.
The inconsistencies come when someone makes a hand-edit and accidentally uses the wrong arm orientation. The second hand from the left on the 2nd row is a prime example -- as you can see, the hairlessness and the muscle tone of the arm suggests the arm was copied from a pic that shows the underside (most likely the first hand on the 3rd row).
A bit of an inconsistency, but to be honest, it's one I've only made recently myself.

Re: [Sprites] Weapon hand templates
Hand inconsistency has been a part of Doom since the beginning. At least with this thread it won't be so blatant (mixing glove colours, etc).
