These lumps is different:
heretic beta vs heretic 1.0 shareware
heretic beta, lumps that do not exist or different than in 1.0 shareware, leaved.
heretics-hexens.ucoz.com/temp/HEREBETA.7Z

So there is differences in e1m2 map

There is F_SKY1 that is messed palette, choose doom palette and it work, originally this lump from doom1

Undead Knight from KNIGA1 to KNIGK0 we can see gold belts.

CREDIT - some font differences and extra comma

DEMO1,DEMO2,DEMO3 - Other demos than in shareware

GFRAG - nice sound =), doesnot exist in shareware version

HELP1 - location of messages different

HELP2 - here we see less text than in shareware (-backspace...tome of power -shift+enter...skip invertory)

TITLE - just a small area in image that failed with palette, area is darken than in shareware.

Bought Heretic(s) & HeXen(s) also in steam =).
Looking close to it:
These releases need some little clean up:
i found lnk file that points to
H:\Home\Grayson Wendell\Steam\Heretic\heretic.bat
Grayson Wendell a developer at id Software.
DOSBox version 0.71 mixed with some files from version of DOSBox 0.72
also there is archive with source code of DOSBox version 0.71
README.TXT that comes with heretic is missed because overwritten by readme.txt that comes with dosbox
By analyzing files i realized the source of heretic installation is CDROM named http://doomwiki.org/wiki/Towers_of_Dark ... and_Beyond
This release containing file "EULA - HERETIC.doc" which is License Agreement rewritten
(no file is matching this, all agreements that comes with any heretic version is older than this)
