Ventris' Subtle Multi-purpose Doomgal sprites (In Progress)
After messing around in Virtue's Doomgirl sprite thread, I decided that the community needed a spectacularly unnoticeable set of female marine sprites. These can be easily modified in the same way as countless Doomguy modifications, possibly with mostly copy-pasting the altered bits with mininum fuss.
Here is an upsized comparison shot:
And what I have so far, which is the forward walk animation, set above the beloved original:
And the X2X8 frames:
The X3X7 frames:
The X4X6 frames:
I'll put up a download when I'm done, which'll be, like, forever maybe. Hopefully not. We'll find out, together.
Sarcastic Feature List:
-Unisex armor design for maximum usability.
-The Iconic helmet is preserved because seriously why would the helmet differ?
-80% more breast protection than comparable models.
-85% less patronizing to the fairer sex.
-112% less gratifying to 13 year olds who can't Google.
-14% more freedom from Patriarchal oppression.
- -20% popularity with Mansplainers.
-45% more difficult to masturbate to.
-No indicators to let you know the gender of who you're throwing fireballs at from farther than 10 meters.
-DoomGAL instead of Doomgirl, because Guy and Girl aren't really gender opposites, you know?
-My mom said that the Doomguy's boots look like Uggs and I can't unsee that!
I'm no sprite artist, so input is welcome, but not that welcome.

Unwelcome comment (unwelcomment) #1: the right arm (on our left) still seems too buff on the D frame. It's visibly thinner on the A frame, less so on the B and C frames, and even less so on the D frame.
Edit: this no longer applies.

to be honest, it just looks like a thinner doomguy, but good luck, we need more female doom characters.

Slender Doom Marine works better as a name, as it would fit some females and thin dudes. A larger female can still fit as the normal doomguy sprite.

Did a second draft based on Gez's arm suggestion thingy. Also, now that I'm at home with Photoshop, I made the images have a transparent BG. The E frame is now there, too. Was scratching my head a bit over the left arm in E, but I think it's alright.
EDIT: But Blackfish, Subtle Multi-purpose Doomgal sounds so much more Tacticool!
DOUBLE EDIT: Forgot that F is just E with lighting, so that's in there, now. That's one whole animation sequence (I'm doin' death last because I want to have everything else about the anatomy figured out first.

you suck at spriting omfg what are you doing why are you even here holy damn you are just pathetic
But seriously, try tightening the middle-torso area a little bit to make it seem less bulky?
Because currently it seems like the biggest flaw that I can see. o_O

Ah, that's inconsistent with the B frame. You're right. I've touched up the A and D frame accordingly. By that, I mean I removed a total of 4 pixels.

brb redoing all sprites to match Toenail's masterpiece
Re: Ventris' Subtle Multi-purpose Doomgal sprites (In Progre
Glad you've decided to do this.
Now we just need CaptainToenail to make a full set for his one.
Too many captains - at least one of you should be a major by now!

Added the first draft of the X2X8 frames to the OP. Messing with arm thickness in these frames was a bit funky. When I get home to my PC I'll put up a version with a transparent background.

This sprite is terrible. She's not sexualized enough.
I'm kidding.

Basically this.Virtue wrote:to be honest, it just looks like a thinner doomguy, but good luck, we need more female doom characters.
There's a lot more to female proportions than just "skinnier".
Re: Ventris' Subtle Multi-purpose Doomgal sprites (In Progre
That'll be why he's doing more than just making her skinnier I guess.

Maybe moving the breastline down one pixel could help make the skin appear more female.
