[Monster]Vore from Quake

With the support from the folks over at the Sprite Carnival Thread I've decided to make the Quake Vore/Shalrath in the style of hand-drawn spritey monsters :)

It's not 100% mine in its strict sense, since the monster is ID's intellectual property (they designed it) and the sprite was painted over them model rips from Qdoom (which were previously scaled down) so that the animations are true to those of the original monster. However, nothing of the base model rip remains...
It was additionally Doom-palletted, since that was my target color range.

Note - when putting it into the wad try to make the center of the monster align with the Y axis, so the torso/head remains in the center, as auto aligning may offset the sprite too much to left/right.

Now go wicked with coding it, mates ;)

Oh and btw, this thing took ages to make...but the satisfaction is rewarding :)

Awesome, this is very well done Paul. If that's the quality you will deliver in the future I can't wait for firther work :) Btw, would you mind writing a DECORATE for this one as well, adding sounds, GLDefs, etc? :)

Sorry, I have to refuse. I'm already quite busy with working on another sprite for X ;) and besides, several people in that Sprite Carnival thread said they would love to write a decorate for this monster, IIRC they had some sort of a method for making Vore's seeking projectiles behavior very similair to the original one. I wouldn't want to spoil them their pleasure ;)

And concerning writing Decorate for the Grell, I really have no idea to be honest :| I pretty much thought it'd fire a single projectile or something like that. But anyone willing to write a Decorate entry for it, be my guest, and go wild with ideas! :)

And ofcourse thank you for the nice comments Image

fap fap fap

Anyway, I'm sure Ghastly Dragon will be glad to code this thing, he has already ported a lot of Hexen 2 and Doom 3 monsters to classic Doom accurately. :)

What order should its walking frames play in? A-F, or should there be some other order? Also, can you do an "I'm holding the fireball here" frame between the two "arm up" frames? I plan on doing the same before-firing delay as in Quake 1.

Edit: HOLY CRAP OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I can't believe I actually got that working. But yeah, I think it really needs that extra "holding" frame in the firing animation, because it looks odd if the animation takes as long as it does in Quake.

The order is first 6 frames, repeat, for walking.
As for the extra frame, I'm a bi busy ATM, maybe later.
