[Sounds][Music][Art] Wolfenstein Fun Times
From the weird-ass console/Mac ports of Wolf 3D...
Mac/3DO/Jaguar sound effects (in 22khz, unlike the old Wolfendoom mods. Ripped from the Macenstein mod.) (Link fixed and updated. -mgmt)
3DO Music (In MP3. These were a PAIN to rip. Ripped from the game ISO.)
And not mine (I don't know the exact origins, sorry) but to complete the thread...
All the Mac sprites and textures
If anyone can provide clear looping MP3s of the Mac music, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

Whoah, those sprites are awesome, but they have no rotations!

That's how they are, I'm afraid: The basic concept of the Mac port seems to have been "Nicer, but less of it" - the levels feel much less complex, there's less textures (though Id hacked together the rest for the iPhone Wolf3d) and enemies have no rotations and less frames in general.CaptainToenail wrote:Whoah, those sprites are awesome, but they have no rotations!
Kind of odd that ALL the console versions except GBA and iPhone were based off that version...

That's the first time you've ever heard of Wolfenstein 3D, admit it.CaptainToenail wrote:they have no rotations!
The PC version only had rotations for non-boss enemy movement. Frames from bosses, and attack frames from non-bosses, have a single front rotation. The Mac version suppressed walk rotations for non-bosses as well, and also shaved off some of the death frames from bosses.

Gez, I was referring to the guards, officers, SS etc.
They do have rotations!
I know the bosses don't have angles etc.
I've played Wolfenstein, infact I have the game on XBox, it came with Return to Wolfenstein

I think this is a facepalm moment, is it not?
I was disapointed because the Mac version of the guards have no rotations, whereas the originals do

Yeah, I remember finding out about the lack of rotations years ago. I was desperate to get copies of the Mac sprites so that I could use them as hi-res enemies in Zdoom but when I found out about the lack of rotations my enthusiasm dissipated.
These sounds are pretty cool and it is nice to finally get the sprites even if I am unlikely to do anything with them now.

Re: [Sounds][Music][Art] Wolfenstein Fun Times
The amount of work required to draw the rotations probably killed it... I can imagine it to be a pain to draw high res sprites pixel-by-pixel for all rotations...

Which, of course, is why I wanted to rip someone else's sprites rather than try to make my own.

I did not realize the Mac version was so different from the PC version.

Heh, I recognize bosses from Spear of Destiny thrown in the middle. I guess the game's progression was completely different? I don't think Trans or Ubermutant (and super-heavily-armed-non-hitler-mech-guy, whatever his name is) were residents of the original castle.

Re: [Sounds][Music][Art] Wolfenstein Fun Times
Sorry for the bump. Are the sounds meant to be able to be used as-is with ZDoom, without converting it to a higher sampling rate or something..?
