What does BeastVision in Blood do?

What does BeastVision in Blood do?

Since this looked to be non-operational in Raze I cross checked with all 3 available engines - BloodGDX, Fresh Supply and NBlood, but in all 3 I also cannot see any effect from this powerup.
So what does it actually do? From the name I'd have expected to make things somewhat easier to see but I was unable to see any difference here.

According to the wiki:
Makes enemies stand out as if brightly lit. Useful in dark areas. Using it drains power points.

The regular maps aren't really dark enough to make a difference but it's very useful in some user maps for example Death Wish's What lies beneath

From what I remember, is makes enemy sprites be rendered as if they were in a sector with normal brightness, ignoring the brightness of the sector they are in. So, a bit like Duke Nukem's nightvision goggles, but the sprites dont't become especially bright, and the rest of the scenery stays the same.

It's supposed to make enemies bright in darkness, similar to night vision in the other games, but yeah, vanilla maps are usually not too dark, making the effect harder to spot unlike the other games, it's very subtle in light, but noticeable in darkness.
