Polyobject doors with lower textures

Post by gwHero »

Hi,

I have a question about polyobjects.

Could somebody tell if raising the polyobject floor and specifying the lower textures instead of the usual mid textures is an undocumented feature or is this officially supported?

I think I prefer using the lower textures method, because on my machine in the software renderer, polyobject doors seem to be rendered more smoothly with lower textures than with mid textures (in OpenGL I couldn't notice any difference).

However, since I did not find any remarks or documentation about this, I would like to know if using this feature with lower textures is intended functionality, and will be supported in next versions, or am I taking a risk that this way of working could be broken in a future release?

(I am using GZDoom 3.1.0)

Thanks for the additions, much appreciated!

This is indeed even more sophisticated than just a polyobject door swing, but the principle stays the same: using lower (or even upper) textures.
