Animated Skyboxes

Postby Captain Proof » Wed Feb 04, 2009 12:53 pm

I know that Doomsday has this feature, can it be done in Zdoom?I'm looking at something like rotating planets, shooting stars, etc.I know it can be done using two different skies but it looks too hackney.

Something I've been meaning to try... I know that GZdoom "360 degree" skyboxes can use effects that normal textures can - eg you can set them up in ANIMDEFS to animate, and you can use MAPINFO lightning to change to a different sky when the lightning happens. One thing I haven't yet checked though is if you can do the "doublesky" Quake-like scrolling clouds over the top of a different background effect. I suspect you can, but I'm going to need to check some time. Of course, I'll need to fund a suitable cloudy skybox to make it worthwhile.

It's certainly possible with Zdoom. I just don't know if it is possible with a pair of GZdoom 360 degree skyboxes.

[edit] After trying a few tests, I don't think it is possible with 360 skyboxes. :( [/edit]
