But would probably look terrible - as translations can sometimes screw up other colours.Ravick wrote:It's very good, indeed, but i think maybe you could do recolor with translations instead of truly changing the sprites. I mean, would take less time

A nice little edit there that makes a good looking, subtly different explosion.Minigunner wrote:
It's a nice enough edit in itself but I have to say that I find grey recolours a bit dull and predictable. I assume that it probably has something to do with the range of greys in the Doom palette being pretty good but almost every enemy has been given a grey recolour. I think, for me, grey recolours triggers the same kind of feeling that other people get when they see the Duke shotgun or Shadow Warrior weapons included in a Doom mod yet again.FireSeraphim wrote:
Meh. I spent a few hours recolouring an entire set for a boss I'm making, By the time I was done I was more than ready to hit the hay.

Grey looks plain most of the times. But when you mix it with some other color for a backlight it makes the sprite look 100% better.

Very Nice! I would like to play a Doom Troopers mod for Doom.Captain Proof wrote:Golgotha would be a good baddie, I personally think Algeroth would be a good addition.

I tweaked with one of FreeDoom's plasma rifles to look less grainy. It looks like a HacX weapon now IMO

Definitely. My first thought was the HacX taser when I glanced at it.Minigunner wrote:It looks like a HacX weapon now IMO

Too outliney to be such, IMO.

A few minutes of halfassed work gave me an angled shotgun.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks. Some things are not worth doing if they aren't done right.

For one, it's the shading of the original shotgun that kind of kills it. Also, the iron sight apparatus in the middle cound be scooted to the right a pixel or two.
My guess is that the shotgun was photographed in a room with inadequate lighting, not to mention the gun itself is plastic. Maybe the barrel could have some shading put onto it, just because of the fact that it's angled.

No "Thanks for trying?" God Damn.
It's not a bad effort so far, really. The biggest problem with it is that the iron sights don't line up in a perspective-correct manner. Shifting them a little bit to the right produced some decent results:
The bottom looks a bit skewed still (ideally it shouldn't be much different than the regular frame here), but it's got potential.

I do not agree with your assessment that it is now decent. Maybe if you did something to the shape at the bottom part (where the shine highlights are parallel with the screen, instead of perpendicular with the axe of the gun) it'd be an improvement.
Mostly I'm a grouch because I don't like angled weapons anyway.
