I dropped XP one year ago, and by now all fallback code is gone. No idea which version you used as base, but it seems to be a bit older.

As drfrag mentions - A Geforce 6150 SE IGP, marred to an Athlon X2 215 and 3 GB DDR2. What you are looking at is something that was considered an budget office PC back when i purchased it in 2009/2010. So, close to the 13-14 years that you mentioned :wink:

(And yes, that Geforce 6150 IGP new in 2009 was just absolute awful.)

Its why i stick to LZDoom. Atleast i am an active use case there. :lol:

Thing is, believe it or not, i tend to be extremely economical on hardware things and simply didn't have a need for it yet. And yes - Ive played with machines that are faster by a tenfold. I know what's out there. But for what i do with this, it gets by. Its long in the tooth now though so an upgrade will be coming one way or another.

It seems i am all about that 10 year mileage - My previous trashcan was a Pentium 3 500 Mhz with a Radeon 9200SE, and the oddball number of 576 MB RAM. Used that all the way up till 2008. Don't ask. :shock:

The way this was structured initially made me think i was addressed here, but you are referring to Teddipetzi.

FWIW - LZDoom does run pretty well.

Well, it rain Eviternity in OpenGL pretty good. Though i say that and then remember it didn't look like OpenGL whatsoever. I tried the latest Skulltag yesterday for testing and that ran absolutely fine in OpenGL. I know, super old GZDoom, not comparable to, and so forth. :wink:

It all still runs, but i am well aware that i am on a ship that has already sunken deeper than Titanic. If LZDoom moves away, then my next port of call is ZDoom32. But really - If i want GZ, its an upgrade. End off. :)

The only thing i legit object to with the new LZ is the retaining of the same name whilst its intent is changed. I am not the only one who thinks this is inherently confusing and carries several consequences - but drfrag has made it known more than once that he thinks a name change is confusing, for the same reasons.

That's what you think, IMO it hasn't. It's the same stuff on top of a different GZDoom version, has D3D (pure software) and the classic ZDoom UI, essentially same thing.
QZDoom also keeps the same name and it's not the same original master branch. ZDoom32 is older.

The search works on DW (partially) for the last 1.5 weeks.

I am not sure what you are referencing here at all. LZDoom works fine here.

Keyword here is ''essentially''.

I mean i already laid out what i thought of it over at DW, you disagree (I can't recall if you addressed it there, but okay) so i don't feel like working this up. But if users will come around and ask why LZDoom stopped working on their GL2 card, then you can tell them what has changed everytime.

The only reason i even advocate so strongly for a name change (Given that the scope and intent of LZ changes) is purely to save you a world of hassle troubleshooting this.

QZDoom is an experimental platform that is bound to bleeding edge and experimental features that may or may not always land in GZDoom. Its intent is vastly different from LZDoom, enough so that LZ is listed on the frontpage and QZ is not.

But they are not the same experimental features yet the name doesn't change, it's the same concept. QZDoom was listed in the download page before.
LZDoom by default runs on D3D, if it doesn't run on GL2 cards anymore too bad for them but it will run (it will fall back to softpoly). It's still a legacy and alternative port.
And what name do you suggest? SoftPolyZDoom? The version number change should be enough.

Yeah about the card you said "it works" in general not referring to LZDoom and i tell you that you can't run a lot of software including GZDoom.

Its not. QZDoom's intent is vastly different. Intent is the key difference here.

Back when it was a bleeding edge trunk for new GZDoom features that Graf would put in and when ZDoom still is around. When QZDoom started adding things Graf couldn't put in for various reasons (RGB666 support comes to mind) QZDoom became a more general experimental platform.

Something that distinguishes it from LZDoom. It could be LZDoom-NG, or LZDoom 2.x (and rebranding 3.85 to 1.x) or something like that.

:roll: If i am looking around for parts and determining what i want with a possible new machine, that does not mean i do not want to upgrade. It means i am looking around.

... but that's totally stating the obvious. Why would you do that? Why assume that i am not aware that i can't run Doom Eternal? Or GZDoom, for that matter? Ive literally stated that i can't run GZ in this very thread!

And now my desktop linux machine has died. After struggling for hours i can't do anything about it, it's dead Jim.
First linux mint said resuming when i had turned it off last time, then black screen and then reboot and sector read error and then just black screen. After managing to make it boot again (unfortunately most of my machines have ddr2 and it was unreliable) it's a hard drive failure.
So remember that nice guy named Nick who was spamming me for days at discord and everywhere, made a bug report and then dissapeared when i asked for feedback? And he never came back becouse he was busy, he dissapeared after i said most likely wouldn't be able to fix another bug and declined his offer for a rasp-pi4.
Can anyone run the GL renderer on linux and check mouse cursor positioning at fullscreen resolutions lower than native? Thanks.
I won't be running linux again for now until i install it on a VM.

So far it seems to work just fine. I am not noticing any issues, but I think someone else should test it too.

I encountered an error in LZDoom. When I turned on the - Display Name Tags - Both option and when I selected the gun, an error appeared.

I will wait for a new build with fix :) I have a question. Why does GZDoom swear on RAM and LZDoom not? Because of this, I could not play After Doom with GZDoom. But with LZDoom there were no problems in After Doom.

May be it's due to the different defaults? Try this recent devbuild https://devbuilds.drdteam.org/lzdoom/lz ... 4b185d0.7z with the OpenGL backend.
GZDoom savegames are compatible there now but old LZDoom savegames are not.
