Mostly what it says on the tin. Bots will aim down to try and hit higher up targets, and vice versa for lower targets. This is clearly visible on Doom 2's MAP01, but anything with height variation will show the issue.
And yes, I'm well aware of the status of the bots in GZDoom, they're deprecated and no effort will be taken to fix them. Posting at the suggestion of drfrag and to at least keep the issue documented for future reference and linking.

I don't see it, they are so badly broken that it's hard to test even cheating. Seems they don't aim either up or down, just in front of them. I've tried GZDoom, LZDoom and ZDoom32 even with the fly cheat and summoning weapons for them to pick up. They usually run against walls or shoot at them anyway.

I've also tried GZDoom 3.3.2 and for me it's the same as in later versions.

It definitely dates back to 2.4. I just didn't notice because of other things, like map choice and such.

I've just tried GZDoom 2.2.0 with the same result. They don't aim neither upwards nor downwards, they just fire in a line in front of them. Tested with the fly command and summoning weapons for them such as the plasmarifle.
