Long sounds have weird pitch when leaving water

Is there something that doesn't work right in the latest GZDoom? Post about it here.

Please construct and post a simple demo whenever possible for all bug reports. Please provide links to everything.

If you can include a wad demonstrating the problem, please do so. Bug reports that include fully-constructed demos have a much better chance of being investigated in a timely manner than those that don't.

Please make a new topic for every bug. Don't combine multiple bugs into a single topic. Thanks!

Long sounds have weird pitch when leaving water

Post by Nash »

Chris wrote: There's a known issue where if you have snd_pitched disabled, entering or leaving the water may add a random offset as if it was on (depending if the sound is otherwise allowed to be randomly pitched). This will be more noticeable on long or continuously looping sounds. It's something I intend to fix, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Though it shouldn't affect sounds that are started afterward, nor happen if snd_pitched is enabled.
Adding this as a bug report so that it can be tracked.

Added test file. With snd_pitched = false, when you get into the water and then go back out, the man's voice will have a permanently altered pitch.
