Inexpensive Doom - FreeDoom monsters (updated Nov 22 2019)

Post by bLUEbYTE »

Presenting to you my first actual mod release, Inexpensive Doom.

This significantly boosts enemy variety by bringing across 12 different monsters from FreeDoom and randomly placing them instead of, and alongside their vanilla versions with 50% probability. FreeDoom (https://github.com/freedoom/) is a free (both as in beer and in libre) standalone IWAD project.

Hey Valken, great to hear you like it!
'brutalising' the monsters would be way too much work, and I don't have that kind of time. And I've heard that BD codebase is a steaming mess. I just discovered BDLite though, which seems very cleanly built. I *might* integrate these monsters with it, at some point if I have enough interest.

Sweet, FreeDOOM's monsters in vanilla DooM.

I have to ask: I actually prefer the FreeDOOM gib kill sound("DSSLOP", right?) over the vanilla id Software version. Would it be possible to include it, or would that be too difficult?

Done. I have not replaced the vanilla version, but now the two sounds have equal chance of occurring. Please re-download via the link in OP.

Another update, this version will probably be FINAL.

- Tweaked dynamic light colors for projectiles to bring them more in line with sprite colors and differentiate them from vanilla ones
- Replaced Doom guy death sounds with FreeDoom ones
