DOWNLOAD DEMO 3!

Vault is the name of an upcoming multiplayer FPS that is meant as a love letter to good old classics, like Doom, Quake and TimeSplitters. Including many features that have not been seen since, along with a lot of new stuff.

This demo is meant to be a way of balance testing and overall feedback of the game. Remember that this is an early demo without even the custom models we were going to include due to issues, so it won't look like this in future, more complete releases.

You can contribute giving your feedback about the game, sending character designs (even if you already used them somewhere else, they can also be included here if you want, with credit to you and even a backstory of your own) as well as weapon ideas, map ideas and gamemode ideas.

Spoiler: F.A.Q

You can also contribute to Vault by donating.
We are very short of developers (It's just me and another guy who only does not too good models for now) so with the money, we can hire people to do stuff better than we can. Mostly mappers and modelers, and maybe Voice Actors, and maaaaybe programmers.
And also, buy a generator to not have to depend on the terrible electricity service of Venezuela, which would be very helpful.
While buying a better computer would be nice too, it's not really necessary ATM and not having those gives us an incentive to optimize the game as much as we can, and avoiding choppy performance even on stronger PCs.

A bit of an status update. The next demo has been taking a while because of the current electrical crisis here in Venezuela, in fact, right now i don't have electricity (since yesterday), yet for some reason the government is giving us free wifi?

We originally planned to make 3 demos, each with more content than the other. However the electrical crisis has cut our dev time short and we only have like 3 hours a day at most. So we now will only release another demo after this and then the full version right after that, to gather enough money to buy an electrical generator to make development independent of the current electrical situation.

First person models aren't working yet so now we made them into sprites and that somewhat works, but it looks a bit ugly at high resolutions (The sprites are made for 640x480) But it's our only option.

We also have some character design, but it's only the male protagonist and the female protagonist from the single player campaign (Because you can choose what gender to play as, and the missions are sometimes played from a different viewpoint from the other gender)

And about the editor part in the F.A.Q, now there will be an editor available on the Steam store along with the game itself, called "Vault Mapper", it's just a fork of Doom Builder X that removes stuff unnecessary for Vault mapping. Don't worry, the help > about section still mentions Doom Builder, CodeImp and Pascal vd Heiden.
If you are on Linux though, you have to get Wine and run Vault Mapper on it or get SLADE 3 and edit there instead. I will make a .PDF manual for both, but Vault Mapper is the officially supported editor, and will be the one with video guides on YouTube.

Updated to Demo 2. Not exactly a GIGANTIC update, but there's a new map, now you can see your weapon on-screen (As in, you are carrying it in your hand, not just an icon), a new menu, and a few bugfixes.

This update isn't all that new, it's lacking the engine switch to Zandronum and other extra bits of content, but that may be up soon.

What a load of trash. Apparently it works for other people but we have been getting only reports of downloads failing and even when we test it ourselves it's prone to failing.

Sorry, i will be changing the links, thanks for your interest.

Oops! Thanks for reminding me, a couple screenshots will be up soon.

For everyone who had issues downloading, try again, adfly links were replaced by direct Mediafire links. Again, i'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

Updated to Demo 3. As promised, there are screenshots on the itch.io link.

Brief changelog as follows:
Changed base engine to Zandronum.
Added 64-bit Linux binary. Requires GTK3 installed.
Added King of the Hill mode and a offline match menu.
All maps are now accessible through the offline match menu.
Parkour system changed to Parkmore + Bunny hopping.
Changed some of the weapons' damage values.

We also added a Discord link to the first post. We have all our games there: Vault, All Dungeons and Invader Zim: The Game (In very early production!)

Make sure to choose "Team Deathmatch" for CTF and KOTH maps!

Something reminded the assault cube. Why not take weapon models from it? (License Creative Commons Deed / Attribution Non-commercial Share-Alike (at-nc-sa))
And make the levels are not so geometric correct, but something closer to natural structures.

Because it's non-commercial. We will sell this game on Steam (or wherever really) when it gets much more complete, not yet because obviously it's missing a lot of content and needs polishing so this is only a demo. Using a non-commercial license would stop us from selling the game.

That's something i'm desperately trying to fix, but i'm just way too accustomed to doing mostly squares in Doom Builder. Maybe i'll make a much more curved and open version of d_80vr later down the line, to start with something.

Was anyone able to download this? Firefox blocked the file because it contains a virus or malware. Chrome also blocked the file.

If you can download Zandronum 3.0 both Windows and Linux releases, then you should be able to download this. Absolutely no changes at all have been done to the executables and you can compare the MD5 sum to verify that they are identical.

Not really sure while they are blocking the file on your end, they don't do that in any of the PCs i tried downloading from (Which were just 5 but still).

I'm sure there is no virus or malware. Tried again with Firefox and got the same message, but the actual file did download to my desktop with the name vault-demo3.zip.part. All I had to do was remove ".part" from the file name.

Weird. :?
