I just wanted to say thank you for posting this mod, purely because I wanted to make a golf mod at one point (see ZGolf somewhere in the forum), and now I'm looking straight at one.

Can I use this to develop my own work from at all?

I'm not entirely sure what you have in mind.
You're welcome to reference the code and nick it if you want. If you want to make another mod built off of this one, though, you would probably be better off making an add-on since I'm still doing tweaks and updates. Not to mention all the folks that submitted maps and such were specifically for this project, so you'd probably have to check with them if you wanted to nick their stuff.

Working on v2. Almost all the codestuff is done, just need to make and put in maps.
Hopefully this doesn't take another half a year.

Quick question, besides corzo's powerslide and lord blaz's paintwand, is there much else of a diffrence between charscters besides height?
