Thank you all folks for the awesome feedback
Oh, and I was pretty sloppy with my texture naming at the very beginning, I'll try to correct this mistake so the assets would be usable for any willing contributor, not just me.
Meanwhile, I've made a lot of tweaks to the first map. Maybe I'll be ready for a flyby video soon - can't say for sure now but stay tuned, guys!
I hope there'll be life for this mod after the release, but we'll see!NightFright wrote:From what I can see on these screenshots, I can already tell you one thing: I will want to play more than three levels of this - and I am sure I am not the only one! Maybe after release, you can open map slots for the community to help you increase the level count. As a huge Dark Forces fan who was also digging Paul Corfiatis' Doomed Space Wars from 2015, this is exactly my stuff. Keep doing whatever you are currently doing, this is looking excellent already!

Very impressive! This looks really good.

Hello, folks
Slowly but surely I'm enriching the first map with details, making various layout corrections.
For example, there was this one section which felt rather straightforward - you went inside, flipped the switch and went back to the opened door the same way you came in.
Now there's a bit of a horseshoe thing going with the way to explore the environment properly, a piece of intesting hazard, a bit of elevation and a tiny battle area

Looks interesting, as you can see from my nick - old StarWars fan.
Good luck...expand the scope though, only 3 levels? In huge StarWars universe?

Since this is my first proper TC - I want to have a more manageable scopedoomjedi wrote:Looks interesting, as you can see from my nick - old StarWars fan.

Can respect that. Good luck with it, I know how stressful first releases can be.
You might add more members to it to enlarge the scope...but you can always make sequels.

HAH! That's awesome xD
Re: [WIP] Darkest Forces: A Star Wars Inspired Mod
Hi folks!
Long time no post, but don't worry - I'm still working on the map.
In fact even more thoroughly, since I've switched to UDMF (started as Hexen format), and it gives me great freedom in terms of texture work and terrain. I'm very pleased with the results and the ability to add even more details to the map.
I'm also figuring out the best pipeline for weapons and enemies. Guess I'm getting close, but we'll see.
In the meantime here are some screens.
