[ECWolf] Extreme Wolfenstein 3D Released! [Old Thread]

Post by Gamma64 »

EXTEME WOLFENSTEIN 3D
Image
Extreme Wolfenstein 3D bring a feeling of realism to Wolfenstein, with the addition of more realistic sounds, graphics, and weapons sprites. Blood particles have been added, and in a feature pulled srtaight out of Duke Nukem, you can kick (Or punch!) enemies, if the weapon you are using has no alt-fire. Most enemies will drop a weapon, and many have completely new states, like surrendering, falling down, or slashing you with cleavers, in the case of mutants.
Features:
-Guards can surrender when attacked.
-Officers and Hans Grosse have attacks for when attacking near the player
-Mutants will occasionally slash you with their cleavers
-Dogs are far stronger
-SSs now have 3 random variations: MP40, Rifle, and Chaingun
-Chainguns and gatling-guns are now separate things.
-Weapons: Improved original weapons, flamethrower, rocket launcher, dual-pistols, rifle, and chaingun.
-When you pick up the Spear of Destiny, you wield it against the Angel of Death
-Weapons that require one hand only to operate allow you to punch enemies with the alt-fire key
-Rats will occasionally appear in prison areas, and bite you
-SS and officer uniforms are now grey/black
-A variety of new decorative objects that
-A lot of other stuff that would make this post too lengthy!

I know! It's really irritating! It seems to be an ECWolf error, some kind of memory "tried to read 000x???" error. Soon, I will post a new-crash-less version. Sorry!

That version also crashes! It just closes when I start a new level.

"ALLRIGHT" sound is present twice on the file. Intentional?

To Wiw: I will transfer the files to a new .pk3; that seems to have worked in the past.

To GAA1992: ALRIGHT.wav only needs to be there once, but having it there twice just makes stuff more exciting! (Yes, it's not supposed to be there twice.)

I apologize greatly! There were few crashes when I ran it (and only on a certain PC), and I am attempting to fix this calamity. I may have to release v3 early. *cough*destroyablestaticobjects*cough*

I got through one level ok, and then it crashed. What version are you using to test this on?

[I use the original .wl6 files]
The crashes are SO annoying. It works bette with SOD generally, just so you know. I think it might be a problem with the procedures that generate the rats that causes the crashes. I am going to copy all the files over to another .pak, one by one, and figure out which entities are causing the crashes. Currently, I believe the KnuckleCrack actor causes some of them, though at this point, it's too expansive to fully know. At least, with this mod, we can figure out the limits of ECWolf.
By the way, you might want to check out floor 61. It's certainly worth a shot.
