The fullscreen HUD placeholder has been replaced with something that is A: Shinier, B: Prettier, and C: Both shinier and prettier!

One of my friends saw the fullscreen HUD and proceeded to go on a rant about how, even for a placeholder, it was awful. (It was)
He then proceeded to make his own replacement. And goodness, is it wonderful. Look at it! Look at it. Let feast your eyes upon the bounties of both his generosity and effort. Man, does it look goooooooood.

Thanks very much for the help, Mor’ladim!

That’s one set of placeholder graphics down, for me.
Only umpteen more to go! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Literally. And the funny thing is, those whole barrels rotates when rotated.

The laser pistol's sprites have been a work-in-progress for quite some time, and they're still not finished... But hey, it still looks really pretty.
Using props or models as a sprite basis really helps out with a form, which makes the big question that of shading it over afterwards.
I guess that's why it's the big thing to do nowadays? Not that I'd be familiar with that, since I'm not really an artist, but it's still nice to learn these things.

Well, consider the following. Adventures of Square took a little over three (four?) years to release the first episode. It’s been another three years, and the second episode isn’t done either. Likewise, Cave Story took over five (six?) years to develop.

And these projects were done by folks that actually know what they’re doing, too! I’m just a hack who’s flying by the seat of his pants.

Basically, hope you’re patient, ‘cause this is gonna take a while.

Let's be honest, space wood is the best wood.

Please don't quote that out of context.

As a person who bears 3 years old still-progressing mod project, i definitely agree that it takes tons of time to finish the project sometimes. For quality, for more fun... Doesn't matter.

Ok, I shouldn't underestimate the time and effort that goes into these projects, good job so far.

The engine updated just today to 3.0.0, integrating QZDoom’s software mode. And hey, surprisingly, things don’t actually look that bad in the software renderer. There’s a couple hiccups, but for the most part first impressions seem good and it seems to run fairly well.
Plus, there’s that whole GPL-compatible licensing! Hooray! GPL open-source goodness! Not that I’d expect there to be a lot of legal trouble but hey, it’s nice to be able to move forward confidently wit–

…ah. That’s a bit of an issue.

An ancient and ruined wizard’s manse is one of the first things I wrote down that I wanted to have as a level for this. There’s, like, lots of stuff you can nick from there.

It turns out when you make a dedicated effort to try mapping every single week, eventually after enough bad maps you actually do get better and gain the ability to make maps that are significantly better than previous history.
