you should change the imp sprites, you have Barney the Dinosaur, Power Rangers, Hello Kitty (all children's TV characters) and then gray doom imps? they just don't fit with the rest of the monsters who are all from popular culture. I know they were in the original Smiley Head WAD too but still.

They're very badly drawn Xenomorphs from Aliens. These days, much better sprites exist, so I'd say they could use a facelift.

Gray Imps will not be changed for a while
I still suck at spriting, so maybe in the future I will give the Imps a new sprite set

couldn't you use some xenomorphs from the actual Alien TC? they probably look better in the context of everything else.

Maybe it's a little too late, I haven't made any news yet, the reason is I lost all files for the Christmas update (again..)
I will, however, want to finish it even though I lost all my work in it.

First 3 levels is finally finished, and classic Smiley levels are fully playable.

were there any item placement tweaks since the last update? i recall the second level being near impossible to beat, because there's simply no weapons to fight them back with, not enough ammo in some cases, no armor whatsoever and way too little health. granted, that was on UV, but there were also 847 monsters in the map. a little bit more to go would be nice.

I actually did put a few items in map02, in some areas where I frequently died even with the resurrect cheat. Will do that.

Small update.
I removed a bunch of monsters from MAP02, and placed teleporters where you can get stuck.
I didn't forget about ammo and health packs
