i've started playing today the original Mr. Smiley's Head Safari, and while it is a a lot of a trash mod with 1994 levels and stolen sprites, i can agree it has his charm :)
good luck with your fanmade sequel aniway, you are making some good progress!
also, who can be the real guy with the gun that replaces the zombieman, on mr. smiley's wiki they say that he's Michael Jackson:

Well, I didn't know at first what Zombieman's sprites supposed to be
After reading about old posts and stories about this mod, many people called that Zombieman Michael Jackson
And that's why I called him MJ too.
I've found Imp's sprites in an old WAD collection cd, but not Zombieman's

Nice to see that finally somebody is trying to get some interests on this one...
I think it could evolute in a good way, so that's why I like to help mostly on and off Killerzolika with Smiley...
BTW did you noticed this on recently builds of ZDoom? Maybe that will save some crap for you concerning sprite recolouring :wink:

You can play the original levels in this mod too.
I'm planning to fix all issues with these levels, so If you are still waiting for Smiley II levels, you can play the original levels.
Actually I've spent about 2 hours figuring out how to make the original Doom 1 skies appear, and not make them conflict with Doom 2 ones
And of course, the Doom 1 textures which wouldn't appear..

But they are fully playable without any issues. Even the intermission screen from Doom 1 is back aswell.
The levels are untouched.

thought the poss sprite was just the creator of the original wad who digitized himself.

Nope.
Mr Smiley had a dozen of stolen sprites and maps from various wads and collection CDs, which weren't credited.

Everything you see here has solid color. (Well, expect the STBAR, but don't remind me of that pls :P)

Of 162 textures, only 69 textures were re-drawn in order to give them a more cartoon feeling
Now about the wall patches.. Of 516 patches, half of them were already re-drawn, or just a black line were drawn. (I have no idea)
This also includes Doom1's textures and patches.

Replaced the old and nasty Plasma Gun with this one.

I'm not dead, either the project. So out of 521 textures about 88-90% are finally done
I think I don't have to tell how it is painful to redraw everything from total zero
